又稱為「可觀測到的宇宙」，指的是使用各種儀器或設備就可以偵測得到或觀察得到的那一部份宇宙。

一種接近演化終點的恆星，雖然無法再進行核融合反應製造新的熱能，但是殘餘的熱能還是會讓他持續發光。
